Differences Between OXY-BOOST OXYGEN BLEACH and
EXTERIOR PROX DECK and PATIO CLEANER
Because Oxy-Boost Oxygen Bleach and Exterior Prox Deck and Patio cleaner are oxygen bleach (sodium percarbonate) based products we quite often get asked what are the differences between them and which one is the best to use in exterior cleaning applications like roofs, masonry, fence, deck or siding cleaning.
Both products contain 80% or more sodium percarbonate which is the active oxygen releasing ingredient. This is the main reason they are so effective. Most other oxygen bleach products do not contain as high a level and do not work as well. When dissolved in water they release oxygen which does the cleaning, bleaching and removal of organic stains like mold, food, mildew, leaf tannin, etc. On surfaces like wood decks and siding they also remove the sun faded layers to brighten and bring out the natural appearance.
Oxy-Boost is our best selling product because it has so many uses in and around the home. To maximize its performance in exterior cleaning applications we recommend adding a teaspoon or so of dish liquid or other detergent and an ounce or so of tsp substitute (sodium metasilicate - found at any hardware store) per 5 gallons of prepared cleaning solution. The detergent helps the cleaning solution wet the surface tobe cleaned better and the tsp substitute increases the alkalinity of the cleaning solution. Both really help to maximize the cleaning ability of Oxy-Boost in exterior cleaning applications.
Exterior ProX already contains these additives in the proper proportion so it comes ready-to-use for exterior cleaning applications.
In reality, if use directions are properly followed both products will perform equally. Still, Oxy-Boost has the advantage of being used in so many other applications like in the laundry, grout cleaning, carpet and upholstery cleaning, etc.
Last year I ordered and used the Oxy-Boost and Deck and Patio cleaner for the first time. I was amazed at the results!!
